When I found out about the Trash the Dress Trend earlier this year I emailed all of my previous brides to see who was up for the adventure. Naomi was still on her honeymoon and responded with a resounding “Yes”. Her husband Jesse didn’t think she would go through with getting wet, so he was totally impressed with her by the end of the shoot when she had done an almost full submersion!

I was first introduced to the Trash The Dress concept by my good friend Craig Wetjen. I must admit I loved the idea but thought It would not work out here in country Victoria, however, I just wanted to shoot at least one (trash the dress) even if I had to buy a cheap dress and get one of my favourite brides that would be willing to get involved in it with us for a day of awesome photography. Well as history has it we never got the chance to do this shoot…….

Enter Taryn & Richard, they are a couple who were most disappointed with their wedding photography (I didn’t shoot the wedding). They heard of Trash The Dress while sitting on a table of newly weds at a friends wedding. Taryn had seen our work on a slide show at another wedding just a month before and thought of us to do her Trash The Dress shoot, if she could convince her husband to let her do this as he had just had the dress dry cleaned.

So on the 18th of April it happened, our first Trash The Dress shoot, (I think I could quite safely say, the first Trash The Dress shoot in country Victoria) Taryn had been counting down the sleeps for 2 weeks prior to this day, and in the words of her husband ‘she was more excited the morning of the trashing then the morning of their wedding’.

I had Craig join me for the day, we started at an old abandoned house here in Traralgon where we spent nearly 2 hours shooting. We then moved on to the old rail yards and then down to the beach, which was a total blast. It was one of the most amazing days of shooting I have had in over 12 years of photography.

Thanks Taryn & Richard for a fantastic day and awesome images.

Ange was very keen for a trash the dress session and to wear her gorgeous dress one more time… Second week of April, the water is starting to get very chilly but Ange put on a brave face and jumped right in, some great results for them to treasure!!!

Renee shot this TTD session together with Tim Boehm who already posted his images in the post below this one.

“After all the rain of the last few weeks Tuesday started out a perfect day. Add to that a gorgeous bride, complete with a hair and makeup transformation, a spectacular backdrop and some very cold water and it becomes a TTD photographer’s dream!!!
The results speak for themselves!!”

I had some fun on Tuesday with a white dress, some very cold water and a beautiful girl. Myself (Tim Boehm – http://www.boehm.com.au) and Renee Bell from NFE design (http://www.nfedesign.com.au) took Ally Lester to the beautiful Glenrock Lagoon nature reserve in Newcastle. The water was freezing but Ally took one look and jumped straight in. What a champion.

Jade and Alex met me late on a Friday afternoon. We aimed to capture the last light of the day, but there was much less light than we bargained for.

The skies became dark and stormy, which created a moody atmosphere for these shots.

Luckily the water wasn’t to cold for poor Jade, but she managed to look gorgeous even when her dress was water logged.

Jade tells me that she had to remove a few buckets of sand from her dress when she got it home, but it’s now all clean and good as new.
