Urban Trash Session February 25, 2008

Rahni had the perfect attitude to be totally at home with an urban trash
session. We used some abandoned railroad and a graffiti wall to get the
dress dirty and showcase an urban feel in the country town – Lismore.
Rahni’s only disappointment was that, while scuffed and dirty the dress
wasn’t trashed much, but she loves the shots.

Rain Forest Trash Session February 22, 2008

We photographed Maya and Dave’s wedding March last year. When Maya heard
of the Trash the Dress concept she jumped at the idea of taking to the
waters and climbing trees with her dress…of course we weren’t going to
stop her. Dave was unfortunately ill and took a rain check. We headed
out to Whian Whian State Forest for some fun. With the recent rains we
didn’t anticipate the flow of the waterfall but it didn’t stop Maya from
finding some water that wasn’t going to sweep her away.

NSW Waterfall Trashing February 21, 2008

Loren and Scott braved the fresh mountain waters and a fair hike to get to this waterfall on the side of a mountain. With all the recent rain in NSW the waterfalls were running strong and cold, but it made the area extremely beautiful and perfect for a Trash the Dress session.

Scott’s toes were getting a lot of attention from a local yabbie, but he was still able to hold Loren is some great poses. We got some beautiful images and it was a fun, fantastic afternoon.

Sydney South Coast Trashing February 19, 2008

Steve & Tina were married late last year and had some photos during their wedding at the beach so they were keen to come back to a beach scene later on to get the dress trashed! We drove around the beaches of Sydney’s south coast until we found one that was nearly deserted which was around the Coledale/Austinmer area”.

A number of trash the dress shoots I have seen have been beautiful photography wise but seemed to focus mostly on the bride in fairly staged calm environments. I wanted to do a few of the bride by herself, but my real emphasis was on getting the couple involved and really trying to get some energy and fun into the shoot. With quite choppy water & a brave couple, this was easy to achieve. The shoot went well, with the exception of a couple of torrential rainshowers which forced a very wet photographer to go scurrying back for cover with his gear briefly.

Here is a shoot that I did with 2 other Canberra based photographers. Kelly Tunney from www.kellytunney.com.au a wedding Photographer Steven Lloyd hair stylist and fashion photographer www.stevelloydhair.com.au and my myself did a few weeks back.

We braved one of Canberra’s hottest days to get our bride traipsing through cow patty’s, sitting in Very stinky alleyways and swimming in lake burley griffin all in an effort to get her dressed trashed as much as possible. We all had an absolute blast and our bride was so accommodating to having 3 photographers telling her what to do lol!

Trash the Dress with Tracy and Glenn Part II February 2, 2008

Tracey & Glenn wanted to head to Montville a couple of hours north of Brisbane for some fun in the water. With all the rain we have had here recently the waterfall was running very strongly, but that didn’t stop Tracey getting in there. We were having so much fun that we didn’t even realize the sun was going down. We had to hike back in the dark, but of course we had lighting to see the way.

Gold Coast Spit February 1, 2008

I met up with Tammy & Mark at the Marriott Hotel at Surfers Paradise, they
were in the bar getting into the “Spirit of things”, Tammy and Mark were
wonderful to work with, she was keen to try anything I suggested, and from
our email chat she knew what i was looking for.

We had both seen a lot of “Trash The Dress” images and to be honest we
both said that were a little bored with them, beautiful images but, there
didnt seem to be much fun being had. Tammy and I had exactly the same
ideas, When you do something like this it should be fun, We set out to do
just that.

First we went to the Gold coast spit and got some great images of them on
the jetty with some waves breaking over the sea wall, and on the wonderful
rocks on the jetty, then it was back down the pub for a bit more getting
into the” spirit of things” before we hit the beach, oppersite Sea World.

The sun had pretty much gone down and it was just what i wanted, we had to
work quickly, Firstly I had them do a few runs up the beach and in the
surf to get things rolling, then we got them into the sea, Tammy and Mark
were both having a good time and it really showed on there faces and in
the images. My thanks to Heath & Greg who came along to assist and get a
few images, i cant wait to see what they came up with.
